cities, even at night, even if someone has entered your place, etc. Please tell me if this is so and where in Canada do you live/lived and why would you choose to move to the US? I would love to live somewhere that people felt safe enough to leave their doors unlocked!

During the day, the door is unlocked, but it gets locked up at night because it's just common sense. I don't think anyone would try to come in, but one Christmas, a family arrived, just walked in, gifts and all! They were looking for our new neighbour's house, and after a good laugh, they went on their way.

There is crime in Canada, but not as much as in the States because I think Americans are sooooo stressed out. The media down there really works at keeping everyone feeling worthless so they consume more. It's a psychological attack on Americans.

It's great to know that a welfare mom can get her sick kid to the doctor. It's sad that in a country as great as the US doesn't have that option, and that rich people are more interested in cosmetic, elective surgery than life-saving, necessary surgery for the less fortunate.

During the day when we are home, we very seldom lock our doors. I even leave the door unlocked sometimes if I have to be away for a short time. At night, we lock the doors, sometimes when my husband comes in late he forgets, so it stays unlocked, but I am not too worried because we have an alarm system, a 50 kg German Shepherd/ husky named Puppy (kidding about the dog's name). I lived in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and now we live in British Columbia. I will never live in the States, because I'm happy here in Canada.

I'm sure there are people in Canada that don't lock their doors at night but I am not one of them. Many years ago my dad left the door unlocked and there was a drunk sitting in the kitchen waiting for breakfast when he got up. We live near a major highway and have had too many people come up on our deck at night. It's better to lock the door and never have someone get in then wait for it to happen.

I live in Canada and I would say it was true at one time that you didnt have to lock your doors. I think it was because people were high on Marijuana and didnt need to do crime. But now the teenagers and some adults are on crack and the need for speed results to b and e's so locking the door is done more often now. I would never want to move to the US, I feel there is to many people in there government that are corrupt. Canada is awesome!!!

Most of us lock our doors. I live in the middle of DT Toronto and my neighbour doesn't but shes crazy and has a crazy dog. I originally am from the suburbs, only 20 mins away, and no the door isn't locked. Would i want to live in the states, thats like asking if i wanna wear a big red bullseye on my t-shirt during hunting season. But are any of us really safe?

Switzerland.... now that sound like a prime realestate location.

Oh hell no!! My locks are locked even when I'm home lol

I don't trust anybody I don't know.

I would say that like 90% of people lock their doors. Don't believe everything your media says about other countries. =)

I live in a small compared to Toronto.

I would ONLY move to the states if I got a good job there.

Yes actually, in the day time. In the night they are locked though but that is only because its just a habit!!

I live in Newfoundland & Labrador. The town I live in has had only one murder (he was drugged and drunk when he killed her) and one attack on a young girl (that was a robbery gone wrong), this town has been here for over 60 years. I love this place and would never move.

I'm Canadian and I lock my doors when I'm not home or sleeping. Other than that why should I? BTW I live in Toronto, the most populated, biggest, most dangerous city in Canada.

i live in the US and I don't lock my doors. It's nice not living in a big city. I guess it's only a matter of time before our nice town is overridden with "city" people though
