suppose there is 'friend' who just talk to you
however you forgot his or her name
how to find out his name in the conversation without asking 'what is your name' which may make the conversatioon embarrasing

Just go in the bathroom after them and say, "Who's in here?" LOL........That's how I handle it.......They usually meekly say their first name..........

You can ask other people if you happen to know their name, however, it is proper etiquette to just smile and say "I'm totally blanking on your name right now, would you remind me?" It's embarrassing, but not near as embarrassing as if you went the whole night and had to admit you don't know.
The problem with asking how they spell their name is when they say "uh....JOE"

Instead of asking "what is your name" ask what is your full name. You could always ask someone who knows them! You can ask for there email address to send them a funny joke. More than likely they will write there name down by it.

What would think if someone came up to you and ask "what was your name again? I forgot it". I don't think you would mind--I know I wouldn't. Just say you forgot his name. You are not good with names. No big deal.

Keep talking to him and say something like I had a friend with the exact same name as you and tell him how you can't believe it...just maybe he will repeat his name,If not just do it and ask him I'm sorry what did you say your name was again I thought you said another name?!

Be honest, say I'm sorry but what did you say your name is? Or if you are too proud to admit you forgot it, call him any name you can think of and when he corrects you say, oh ya sorry I was just looking at so and so and I accidently called you by his name. LMAO

say you were teased in school for your name...then ask if any one ever ever teased them for thier name and how...you'll have a good convo, be funny, and get the name just don't be awkward and make it smooth...;) good luck

Well what i do so i don't forget the persons name is i tend to over use it eg.
Person 1: Hey my name is micheal
me: hey michael how are you?"
p1: i'm great. how are you?
me: i'm great michael thanks for asking.
Then that way i will not forget their name because i keep using it
