We spent a total of about $3000, including my dress and the tux rentals. The outcome was fantastic. We got married on the shore of a lake and had the reception outside at a resort on the water. My mom and I did all the food (since we are better than caterers anyway) and we just got a buddy to BBQ the meat. We kept the reception small and simple - we had about 45 people there and moved it along so it was only about 3 hours long. My mom also made the cake. If you are creative you can do it! There's also friends and family that are always willing to pitch in and help. Hopefully you are lucky enough to also have a friend who is a photographer :). Make sure you put disposable cameras on all the table so your guests can take good candids!! Those were my favorite pictures. You can also do a web search for budget wedding ideas. You really can have a gorgeous day for minimal funds.

Destination weddings can also be fairly inexpensive, but worth looking into. The only problem with that is getting your loved ones there.

The most important thing is that you both have a good time and are not totally stressed out. No matter how ready you are to be married, there's still going to be edgy nerves and stress. Planning your wedding should not make you insane or want to fight. :) Take it from me, I had the huge Christmas wedding complete with 300 of our closest friends planned - it about killed me. Going small doesn't work for everyone, but it really worked for me.

My wife ans I had a wedding at a biker run here in California. It took place in Mariposa which is quite close to Yosimite Park. The costs were fairly cheap. My wife made her dress for about $75.00. I wore a new white t shirt and blue jeans that cost about 35 bucks. The minister was free. He was a brother in the club I was in. The cost of the entry to the run was $35 for the weekend and the cost of all our family to come in was nothing. The local members of the Modified Motorcycle Association took up a collection to pay thier way in and give us the left over cash as a wedding present. Since we rode the bike to the run the cost to travel was cheap. I think it was about 15 bucks in gas to get there and back home. Whatta day and we still have a great marriage after seven years.

We spent $2000. We eloped. It was a perfect wedding for us, since neither of us enjoy attention of that magnitude, nor large gatherings. We are both rather economical people, so the expense of a large wedding seemed illogical to us. We don't regret a penny of what we did spend though. We actually planned two weddings. The first was cancelled due to a strike. In the end, we got married in a castle, and spent a few days honeymooning in Toronto. We enjoyed the theaters, museums, and other attractions. The bulkier expenses were his suit (invested in a good one), the photographer, and the hotel stay for a few nights. Our families were not mad for leaving them out of our plans.

My husband and I spent like 500 on our wedding. We went to city hall, went on our honeymoon that night. When we came home we had a dinner party with family and friends. It was the best wedding I was ever at. You need to remember that you are getting married because you love eachother. You are not getting married for the party. Any ammount of money will do.
I will tell you this also, many of my friends spent thousands of dollars on weddings and many of them didnt make 5 years. My boy and I will be married 7 years in November.

My husband and I spent approximately $28,000! We even took out a Home equity line of credit for it!! Not that I would advise this. However, the day went perfectly! We had a Christmas themed wedding last December. It was completely magical and everything we had invisioned it to be! Absolutely beautiful! Our videographer alone cost us $4100.00. This was one of the most important purchases that we made! Our video was made to be cinematic, movie like. Not boring! We watch it all the time! It's wonderful!

Well, let's see, $15 for the license, I had a dress in the closet, he had a suit in the closet, my son wore school clothes, we had dinner afterwards, that cost about $15-$20, $4 for our one and only wedding picture: I'd say the whole day costs us about $60 altogether, give or take, but being married to a man who is definitely a one-of-a-kind, priceless!!

I spent 4K and it wasn't worth the stress. I spent my money very carefully... I had real flowers, the church, the reception, the cake, etc... It would have been SO much better if we spent that money and went on a fantastic honeymoon. In the end we decided that it would have been better to have some professional pictures taken, a big party, and then a kick aZZ honeymoon.

$1500.00 for a nice wedding. The final outcome was a very nice celebration and a marriage which lasted 20 years before he took off.

My ex and I paid over $13K for a "small" wedding 8 years ago when neither one of us really wanted it; we wanted to go to Tahoe for a long weekend with 6 of our closest friends. small and simple. we were talked into it by her mother with the promise that she would pay for it ALL (mommy wants to see her only girl walk down the isle). I even had to use a $1K cash gift from my parents to pay for expenses on the wedding day because she flaked out on us. Don't do it. Use the money for something you both really want like a down on a house or just do a great weekend with your closest friends. mLooking back we both regreted having the wedding and not going with our gut instinct

That was more than enough for ours. Buy alot of your stuff on ebay.(glasses, cutters, pillow, and such) Have people make the food, or maybe just party trays from wal-mart or sams. See if you know a photographer. Our wedding didn't cost quite that much and it turned out great!
