Marriage is not a piece of paper, or a reason to, what was that? Get fat? You've got to be kidding me.
Marriage is the sole commitment to that other person. You are giving your life to them, until death parts you. Way too many idiots do jump into this, thinking it will be all about that carefree lusting period we all have gone through.
DUH! Get a clue.
It takes communication, love, friendship, concern. You have to learn how to let go, and fight fair. Then you also have to know how to play. Listen, and talk.
Can you do all this w/out a "piece of paper", sure. Your not commited to that person though. In no way shape or form. Nothing. Unless you share kids.
I find that most of the people that say it's just a piece of paper are the ones that can get there partner to sign it.
Oblivously this does not pertain to the gay people. Alot of them WANT that paper, but CAN't have it.
I plan on growing old w/ my husband. As do all my married friends. We are not all fat, and I'm sorry, but my "power spot" (laugh, it is a joke) is still a bit sore from all the banging we did all weekend long. We've been together for 10 years. We don't get to do it as much as we use to, but we still tend to more often then not. Dont believe everything you hear about how marriage kills a relationship. For the right people it just makes them stronger.

Marriages change with time. Just like the two people involved in the marriage it grows and matures. Sometimes during the growing and maturing process however the partners grown apart. Therefore marriage other than the actual word itself can not be defined. What both partners want on their wedding day may not be what they want on their 20th anniversary.

Marriage should mean: For better for worse, in sickenss and in health, forsaking all others as long as you both shall live, till death do us part. But, it seems some people take these vows very, very lightly or not at all. Maybe we all should have to repeat these vows over and over for a few months before marriage, to understand the full meaning behind them.
