Yes, Contact is a great movie. The graphics were outstanding, the science was valid, and the drama behind the various characters gave depth to the whole story.

I've similar feelings as eggman. Jody Foster in Contact was great. But I think Carl Sagan's book may have portrayed different societies' reaction to actual alien life "contact" more accurately. However, with recent events over the past 5 years on Earth, I'm not sure societal reactions would play out the same way as Mr. Sagan thought they might. Maybe its time for a new book along the lines of Sagan's Contact.

I liked the book... it was Carl Sagan's first (and only) venture into the realm of science fiction. I was a little dissapointed with the ending of the film, it was very different from the book and not at all as satisfying. I'm a sucker for anything with Jodie Foster in it though.

It came out when I was about 12 and everyone told me not to see it (because the beginning is so "slow"). I did anyway and it has been my favorite movie ever since. I still watch it frequently and feel inspired by it every time I see it. It is beautiful in its entwining of the human spirit and science.

Yes I liked it, but they could have done more out of the real "contact". After she was "there" the movie suddenly came to an end without any further thrill. Its end is boring.

It was good, but the book was much better. They left out the best parts in the movie...

It was very good, as long as you were not expecting weird looking aliens. I really liked how it was nearly impossible for Ellie to "prove" she had been anywhere.
