Example: people don't always use correct terminology..
Here's some words often used..
Like = lyke, lyk
Yes = yea, yh, ys
Why = y
People = ppl, pls, peeps, pepl
And more..but why not spell most words how they're meant to be spelt, I mean..some are the same amount of words! What's the point :)
You might think I'm petty or something but..it's just irritating to see thoes deliberate incorrect terms!
Example sentence:
omg i wuz so brd 2day all i did wuz listn 2 sum muzik! propr bangin chewns!!

Thank you for bringing that question up!! I hate when people do that!! Some questions are slang and its annoying but at least you can understand what they are trying to say. Others either in response or questions are so bad that you can't understand what their saying at all. I mean its OK if you misspell something or its an obvious mis type. I wish these people would use this forum to improve on their typing skills. If you really tired out by typing a response than you really need some exercise. Relax, just teasing!!!!

There are a couple of reasons:
1. When there is chat and the screen is scrolling quickly, and you are doing a lot of speed typing in a conversational context, it really helps it to go more smoothly to use a kind of shorthand. Shorthand has always been acceptable for speed writers
2. There are certain boxes, like the one I'm using now to write this, that give a limit. Our 'comment' boxes only allow 300 characters. I have written a few comments that I have had to edit to get down to under 300 characters, and one way to do it is to use abbreviations and internet shorthand.
3. Some people really misspell words, or use a regional spelling... for example.. to us in this region 'spelt' is a kind of wheat, and 'spelled' is past tense of spell .
Another factor is that most kids are taught a smaller vocabulary in elementary school than we were, so instead of developing more sophisticated language skills, they remain pretty basic and so sound kind of child-like.
your sample sentence is really pretty good standard internet shorthand, and not misspelled words. It duz tend to be more simply fonetic, eh?

I use slang on occassions. Close friends, or in chatting during online game play.
It is easier to type some slang or abbreviated phrases, especially for the common repetive phrases.
It is a little more speedy and easier on the fingers.
thx 4 the quest.

Sadly, most people don't know there is a difference between netspeak and reality. I'd say it's laziness, but I really think a lot of it is due to lack of education. So few kids read today because of their dependency on television, internet, gaming, that they believe the above standards are acceptable means of communication.

My older brother used to tease me for saying "I'm going to LAY down" instead of the right usage, which is "I'm going to lie down". He's not like that anymore, but I still feel more respected for spelling as well as possible (<

cause they are too lazy to type the real thing out. they didn't learn anything in school and don't know how to spell the word correctly. some times it gets annoying.
