All countries have idiots...Green Day decided to thank the Americans who made them filthy rich with a song which calls Americans "idiots". The song isnt simply about idiots, otherwise it would be called simply "idiots"....no, Green Day sings about "Ameican Idiots".
Since America, by far, has the most Universities, doing the most research...I think its fair to say we dont have the most idiots of any country...guess Green Day was just hatin.
If eye shadow could raise IQ then Green Day would be a group of super einsteins....however, since we know it cant...and we know they are simply a bunch of ignorant little beatnicks who rage against the predominately heterosexual world they are contrasted against....Im gonna go ahead an dismiss any thoughtful analysis these little monkeys have to offer.
If you buy any Green Day music....you truely are an idiot...unless of course your not American....then fine.

I've never heard the song "American Idiot", but mainly because I hate punk rock. I assumed that it was calling Americans idiots, because of the song's title, but one of my friends that loves punk rock started ranting about how it wasn't calling everyone in America idiots, just redneck conservative leaders or something like that, I wasn't listening too much because I honestly didn't care but if you really want to know his reasons I'll ask him for you.
To all the people saying this isn't a question - "Do you have to be a total "American Idiot" to buy any Green Day music?" - that looks like a question to me. His additional details section doesn't specifically ask a question, but that isn't the spot to ask the question in, that is the explanation.

Ha ha... you made me laugh. I can not say anything because I am not an america. But what I think is that there are more important things to worried about. People can say what ever they want. Don't let that affect you. It doesn't have any sense to go deep in that.

It's cool if you don't like the song, but it sounds like you've never even listened to it and that seems kind of odd for someone who has such a distaste for ignorance.
The song is not bashing all Americans. It's about not being apart of the religious conservative agenda. I'm pretty sure that demographic isn't the one pushing Green Day albums to Gold and Platinum levels.

Green Day is a punk band. If they weren't anti-establishment, they'd be ridiculous. I did read a Rolling Stone article where their lead singer was certain he was converting Republicans which I found both arrogant and hysterical though.
