It affected me in a deep, personal way.
I wrote this poem in about 15 minutes, and I'm not normally much of a writer.

It made one of the most intense impacts in my life I've ever witnessed. I currently live in NC but am a New Yorker. I remember turning on the TV that early morning immediately after the planes had hit. I looked out the window and could actually see the enormous amount of black smoke across the bay, the feeling is indescribable. I used to work across the street in Merrill Lynch years ago and used the train in the WTC everyday. Also, I lived in Rockaway Park (beach) Queens, NY where in addition to 9/11, I was on the boardwalk leaning back on the railing looking up at the sky and suddenly I saw what we now know to be flight 587 overhead with the engine in flames diving down. My mom lived in that direction it was headed and I couldn't believe my eyes not to mention the fear. It was past her home, but the people in Belle Harbor a few blocks away were devastated as we all were. So yes the psychological effects are definately implemented. I feel we will be struck again. God help us and prepare us.

I blogged on this today, our company had an office in WTC2 and one of our executives Phil Rosenzweig was on Flight 11 that crashed into thw WTC. This is my company, my country, my peers affected by this horrible tragedy and the events and attempts to rebuild what was lost afterwards.
I am sure everyone is affected differently. For the last 4 years I have commemorated 091101 with my eNews jobs leads newsletter-- because it was late fall 2001 when the Helping Friends Career Network was founded to help people find jobs when the financial outsourcing started happening as major corporations adjusted to the impact of 9/11.
Today I found a need to feel the silence, and a bit of quiet, having worked through much since 9/11. However we WILL rebuild, we will continue to help others in distress, we will create profound opportunities again through caring, sharing and helping one another.

Some people are more inclined to buy into the propaganda that the world is evil and they should be afraid. Others are anxious that too many people have bought into the psychological warfare perpetuated by propagandists. So overall, the event created a lot of anxiety-- the worriers and the people who worry about them

I cant begin to explain the impact it has had on my life.I can say that I am now terrified of airplanes flying overhead & I will not ever go in tall buildings again such as the Empire State Bld.I often wonder why they would make a building so tall without a way out such as ladder ropes at every window.

It's turned some people into major conspiracy freaks. Just go over to the politics forum and ask if they believe that the US Gov't was behind it. And ask for sources.
It's good for a laugh.
