If the lights are in the body and have no screws on the outside:
When you open the trunk you will need to pull the carpet back at each corner where you can get to the tail lights. There will be a plastic connector that pushes into the back of the light and turns 1/4 of the way around to lock. Give it a twist and remove it. The bulb will then pull out of that connector and you can replace it. Installation is reverse of removal. You can also go to the local library and check out a repair manual on your vehicle. Good Luck.

The access is through the trunk on the deck lid (trunk door). You unscrew the light retainer and the wire and light comes out. Change the light bulb, and put it all back together.
I changed my gf's brake light in her cavalier a couple fo weeks ago.

The entire lamp comes off as an assembly. Should be some thumb screws/nuts inside trunk, loosen and pull lamp away from body.

If you're a girl, take your car for an oil change, then kinda tilt your head to the side and ask the service guy if he has any idea how to do it. They'll do it for you.
