Some of these answers are very twisted-if you do opt. for open, keep it in the closet! No good will come from exposing the trash. Not that I'm all for this crap-but people make mistakes-obviously if your partner wants it open, the relationship is lacking something, or she/ he wants to play the field-if you could deal-go ahead-for awhile see where it leads you- maybe you'll find someone you like better as well!

Ok, first of all I think that couples that are in a relationship of that type must be very careful. They have to be open and honest about EVERYTHING. They must be able to handle it metally, physically, and emotionally. If one in the realtionship is uncertain about anything then it will not work. If one in the relationship is jealous in any way shape or form it will not work.
I can say this because my husband and I have tried it. It didnt work for us because I am too posessive. I couldnt handle thinking about my husband sleeping with other women. I couldnt handle the thought of him screwing another woman then coming home and crawling into my bed as if nothing happened.
He is the same way tho. He wouldnt even dream of being able to say yes honey go have relations with another man. He is even more jealous than I am. He would rather divorce me then to have me be with another man or for that another woman without him being involved. Not that he would allow another man into our relationship. But, if I found another woman that I thought was hot, yes I am bisexual, I would have to make sure that she is willing to be with the both of us.
I hope that this kinda answers your question.

It's a really bad idea. I've never been in one..but I have witnessed the effects. And a marriage is sacred. That's the whole point. It's growing together and getting bored together...and then reinventing together. Is this what you imagined on your wedding day? Sharing your husband with another woman. And trust me, it won't just be physically there will be emotions tacked along with that. What if they decide your the one that is a mood killer...and decide to toss you out? No thanks...I'd pass on the spouse swapping.

In my opinion, open relationships are basically two people afraid of being alone. It's total garbage, but honestly, i don't care. I'm never going to be in one, nor am I ever going to hook up with a person who's in one.
It's a practical solution for cowards everywhere. I hope you don't plan on doing anything so stupid.
Cheers.

I don't believe in open relationships. It's the same as open sores - easily infected. No offense of course. Just my opinion.

Open relationships do not work. There are to many jealousy issues. If you want an open relationship, just stay single.

I know someone who did it - almost killed their marriage, because she started preferring the other guy to him, and since "he" was the one who wanted to go open, she said he had no choice but to go along with it.
