there is no world war III
the strategies of war has changed.
After the World War II USA launched a cold war against ussr and brought it down to its knees, and then its corporations attacked its smaller states!
For the rest of the world there is economic war raged by the USA / British financial institutions which control the major economies of the rest of the world. An attempt by the EU Community (save British Pound) to counter check this emergence has so far been successful but still Dollar is a more meaning full term for money (as against Euro)
For Israel and a more powerful control on Oil Iraq has been dragged in the equation, further strenghtening the power of the USA corporations - money wise.
USA Government is the governement for the people, by the people an of the people - these people are the most powerful financial institutions of USA.
World War !!! what war? why war? Just rule by the $$$ is the new strategy.
Is it deliberate / concerted effort? May be - or may be not.
May be the overall Political & Financial structure of USA and its workings have finally achieved this powerful machine where new ideas can be financed unlimited (cars, tv, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, microwave, boeing, fiber technology, Windows, and now renewable energy) and financial clout can be used against other economies for its advantage.
Does it need to be counterbalanced? you think.
If yes, how can it be counterbalanced? Regional economies technologically advanced enough to be free of dependence on USA & Dollars. - Even Japan has not bee able to do that yet!
Switzerland, Singapore, France & Germany have fared better.

I think that if we're not already there, we're damned close.
It's probably a very good thing that we're in Iraq with a strong presence right now, and I think that as we move forward we will be glad that we are.
Iran is only trying to appease the international community so they can buy more time - this is NOT a first. They have been known to destroy buildings in order to keep inspectors from seeing what they are doing with nuclear development (check out the History channel website if you doubt it).
The very fact that our irresponsible media community is advertising dissension in our country regarding these issues is only helping to add fuel to the fire. They see this as a sign of weakness within our country and if you think they're not paying close attention and exploiting this, you're nuts.
It's be lunacy for us to use 'the Bomb' at this point - we're not the only ones who have that capability. That is why it is so critical to stop Iran. We should be taking a long, hard look at the countries who are providing the technology and resources to Iran for their nuclear development - and I am sure that 'we' are.
If you REALLY want to know what's going on in the world for God's sake don't rely on the media to tell you - do some research of your own! Don't be a lemming - like the people in Nazi Germany and all over Europe..and even in pre-WWII U.S.!

World War Three was the Cold War. World War Four is now in progress thanks to the War Mongering foreign policy of the Bush Administration.
As for 'using the bomb' I have no doubt that the current US administration is itching to use one or more of the small scale 'tactical' nuclear weapons they have already supplied to Israel for that exact purpose. You can bet money on them using them – and probably within the next three months (it's now 9/12/06).
What event will trigger the attack? You have not asked but I suspect that 'Iran' (A peaceful democratic country who do not have the capacity to make nuclear weapons) will be said to have exploded a 'dirty bomb' (i.e. a conventional explosive combined with nuclear material) in a Western city causing a 9/11 style catastrophe. This will cause all the mindless sheep who believe everything they're told in their propaganda soaked media to support an American nuclear strike on Iran.
Iran's crime - if it even interests the average American - is to have lots of valuable oil in their backyard.

North Korea isn't the problem.
But the militant muslims will absolutely use an atomic weapon on the west as soon as they get their hands on one and can deliver it. Fortunately- it's not so easy to do, but it's only a matter of time.
Iran, as soon as they built a small atomic bomb will turn it over to Hezbollah to fire it into Israel and blow up a city. It most certainly will happen with the current Iranian leadership and America's international policies.
Israel will have no choice to retailiate... and they have had the nuclear capability since the 70's.

Actually, Iran has backed down a little offering to "temporarily" suspend enrichment if they can keep up with the talks. They're afraid of the sanctions. Let's see what the UN does with that. I fear they'll just give them more time.

Still very far from any World War. The conflicts and abuse of power in other states are isolated cases and controlled by the international community.

America and other democratic countries are working hand in hand in persuading this idiot and selfish rulers of communist and extremist oriented countries to cooperate with them and not to pursue their nuclear ambitions by peacefull means. God's willing, ww-3 are far from occuring in the coming days.
