Hold them, talk to them, really talk to them... just like you would talk to your best friend...play with them... even a new born will respond to happy... be happy, talk about the beautiful day. talk about how you feel about every thing. when yo are bathing them ask them if they are having fun...make it fun for them... etc etc...
And read to them from the begining... get books with pictures and show and tell... in all things let them participate... go by their reactions and let them lead as much as possable...
This is advice from a 59yr old grandpa of beautiful 2yr old twin grandaughters and a beautiful 4 1/2 yr old grandaughter... It works... and you get lots of hugs in return....

The same way you socialize to anyone else! A baby listen to every word you are saying and how he/she responds is with a smile, cry, confused look, or grunt. Just like we would if we did not know how to answer a question. Actually talking to a baby (or even your pet) is a good way to let some of your feelings out.

Just give the baby blow by blows of what you're doing if you're changing them or cleaning the house or walking... You can ask them questions about what you're doing like their oppinion on an outfit and wait for some kind of a response (a gurgle smile frown or just a kick...)

Expose the baby to other people, especially babies. That way, the baby will be comfortable around new faces.

Do you mean you want to know of ways to interact with the baby yourself? Or do you mean you want the baby to interact with other babies/children? Sorry, I wasn't sure.
