I for one would not be surprised. We've already heard another "message" from Osama and his 2nd in command threatening more 9/11 like attacks. How convenient would it be for another such "attack" to happen just before the next elections? It sure would keep the sheep scared enough to vote for the party that has taken a Clinton-era budget surplus and turned it into a world-record deficit wouldn't it?
Fear is a powerful motivator. Hitler knew it, Pol Pot knew it, and Bush knows it too.

I think President Bush and this administration will always keep fear in the people of the U.S.A. to maintain their control and keep the funding for their military campaingns. I don't think this administration and this president has done any thing useful to prevent another 9/11. The reality is Terrorist will try again they will find a way. I think this Administration has really stirred up a bees nest, by their words, actions and threats in the middle east, and the outcome will not be in the U.S.s' favor. I think this administration would greatly gain from another 9/11 attack to reinforce the peoples fears and insecurity.... All speculation, but I have a gut feeling 9/11 was all planned or supported by this administration, and so will the next one. I only hope the American people regain controll of this country that this administrion has taken away from us, to prevent the next one.

Ah the conspiracy theorists !

I just saw a post that suggests that the WTC Towers were an elaborate "Jewish" plot.

You compare Bush with Hitler, Pol Pot, or Mao ?

I would not be surprised if one occurs... Al Qida certain knows the timing of our democratic process. It depends upon their view of how we would react and whether that reaction is in their best interest.

Your question is really a cute bit of political rhetoric to scare the "sheep" in the the direction of a second Clinton-era... btw, the budget surplus was primarily a result of Reagan, & Bush defeating the East-Bloc... Clinton just got to reap the "benefit" of a down-sized (raped) military budget combined with a Republican Congress who reformed welfare and a short economic boom brought on by the dot-dom bubble.

Conspiracy by the US Government... highly doubtful. Criminal Conspiracy being planned in Pakistan... probable.

This is at the crux of the matter. Your question implies that Bush and his people have some control over terrorist attacks. And that IS the question.
An OCTOBER SURPRISE wouldn't really be a surprise.
The attack on the U.S.S. Cole came just before the 2000 election.
I only hope it won't be some sort of nuclear catastrophe, if it does happen.
Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be thwarted.

Terrorist are definitely planning another major attack on american soil. More deadly and devastating than 9/11. So far, no one knows when and where. But definitely, they strike like a thief in the night, when we are relaxed and unsuspectfull. Be vigilant and watchfull, especially within the neighborhood which known to have been a hanging place for radicals and extremist.

I agree with you, Yoda. Fear is a very powerful motivator. I knew Bush would be "re-elected" the second Sadaam was captured. The Republicans could clinch another 4 years with any kind of attack. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see another attack. We obviously haven't learned our lesson.

Well, there has been a consistent 7-9 year gap between foreign terrorist attacks on US soil going back to the early 1970s.

So, if we have another one within the next month, it will be way ahead of schedule. If we get one in 2008, then it will be about on schedule.

Al Queda isn't stupid. They will not do it right before another election, because they'd prefer to have a less aggresive President. That's probably why their most recent tape mentioned attacks in the Middle East, especially Israel.

Of course, I doubt even the Al Queda leaders can control some of the monsters they've created at this point.

rather, i individually do no longer care. We shouldn't choose a president with the aid of fact they're the "first" something, we ought to continuously choose them with the aid of fact we predict of they're going to govern the country properly. i assume it ought to be great to have a female or gay president, because it may shrink bigotry, yet this isn't a reason to alter your vote, in case you question me.
