Blood is always red: bright red when it is oxygenated on the arteriolar side of our circulation, and deep red when it is not oxygenated on the venous side. Why some people may think that blood can be blue is probably because of the color of our veins, which may be visible near the skin's surface. They appear blue because they do not get as much oxygen as the other tissues.

Depends on how much oxygen it has in it. The less oxygen it has the less red it is. Blood is never blue. That is actually a color caused by blood vessels seen below a thin white skin.

Red as it passes through the lungs and is pumped out into the body.

Blue after it has passed through capillaries and is returning to the heart.

You've got me wondering now, luv. I'll grab my snorkel mask and check it out. I'll be back in a minute.

Well, wouldn't you know it, I forgot my flashlight. But it appears to be sort of a blueberry-raspberry color, and slightly green down towards the spleen. Did you know you can use the sphincter for a peep-hole? And it really freaks people out, especially when you stick your pinky out and wink.

Red...shine a flashlight through your fingers; the red color is from the blood inside your hand.
