I've bought three gsm phones from ebay without any problems.
Just make sure it is compatible with your carrier. Call your carrier to find out what frequency it runs on. For example, if your carrier is Cingular and the item you want to get says "cingular" it doesn't mean it will work, check to see if you work with 850 or 1900mhz. Research before bidding.

I bought a cell phone on Ebay--I use Virgin Mobile and found a really nice one that had hardly been used for a good price. It was easy to get the phone activated to my account too. As an Ebay shopper, I would just say to read the ads really well, look at the seller's feedback, and ask questions of the seller if you need to. Also make sure the phone you are looking to buy will work for your service.
When I was looking for my phone, I did notice there were quite a few sellers who were auctioning refurbished phones, or ones missing batteries or chargers and they did not say if the phones worked or not. It may be best to steer clear of those, no matter how tempting the price.
Hope this helps :)

There are many ebay stores that sell very good cell phones that are brand new. You should look for a seller that is a member of Square Trade, because you can get warranty for your phone through them at a very good price.

buyer beware. you are trusting someone who may or may not be honest. I have been trying to get a refund from a ebay seller for 6 weeks because she lied in the item description. do yourself a favor and skip the ebay cell phone.

Depends entirely on the seller. I bought one on ebay and it works just fine.
