Freeze the gum with a cube of ice. Then, with a dull knife or the edge of a spoon, scrape away as much of the gum as possible. Vacuum up the bits of gum that you were able to loosen. This step alone may take several attempts. Next, continue to rub the gum with a piece of ice and continue to scrape the gum out of the couch with the edge of a spoon. To remove final traces of the gum saturate the stain with a cleaning fluid, repeating applications as necessary. If a sugar stain remains, sponge it off with water and or a mild liquid cleaning detergent. That ought to do it! Good luck.

The have this great stuff called "Dissolve It." Spray that on and the gum softens and can be picked off. I hear ice works also (but ice is better for wax). Spray the Dissolve It in an inconspicuous place first to make certain it won't fade the fabric. Good luck. These types of products are at your local hardware stores.

Putting your couch in the freezer is not an option, you may want to pick up a can of compressed air (like what you use to clean your key board) and spray the air and freeze the gum and chip it off when cold.

try taking an ice cube and rub it on the gum until the gum freezes (which it will do quickly) and then pick it off. depends on the type of fabric your sofa is but i got it out of mine after a few tries with some ice cubes.

Goop is a really, really tough long-lasting glue but it's kinda flexible when first applied like caulk. When I want to remove Goop, I use Goof Off. This little can of solvent removes glue, marker and pen ink, crayon, asphalt, tar, lipstick, CHEWING GUM, grease, scuff marks, wax....... I says it can be used on most fabrics. I'm reading the directions right off the can and typing them here.
