No, not at all. The vicious stories of pirahnas we've all seen and hear usually come from fish that are locked into a small water area, with no food, the fish then slowly starve and devour anything that comes near. Pirahnas are not nearly as violent as you might think. And, in fact they are pretty boring, often just hovering in one spot, without doing much of anything. Even in a 180 gallon, they're pretty docile and calm.

Pirhanas if alone or few in numbers are unlikely to be vicious as everybody claims and as seen on television. It is usually only if they are kept in large schools of 20 and above that they will come to that type of feeding frenzy.
Please check with your country and state laws.
Also be responsible and not to release to the wild. Also do not place anywhere where the fish may jump out and escape to outside whether drain/canal/pond/river etc.
Please consider the legal, ecological and safety concerns carefully before getting the fish.
Do you really need to keep this fish?

They all have different personalities. I've had a few of them. Some of them were cool and some of them you couldn't put your hand close to the water or in the tank with out getting a nasty bite. they are hard to keep together.

pirahana is very dangerous, no matter what colour. and the clear ones are the worst. they can eat humans so be careful where you put them. and its not illegal to own your own, just need a safety certificate

I think it's illegal to own a pirhanna. But if you get one, stick a finger in the water and post the results...
