You can learn how to do this by researching and even writing down words you think you'd like to use sometimes. Reading magazines and books about your favorite subjects might be a good place to begin research, or you could read suggested college reading and write down all the words you found difficult, looking them up each time. It will come to you with creative research and practice. Keep a notebook for words you do not know and then look them up when you can, and try to use at least ten new ones per week...or day...if you're a fast learner.
You won't just "sound" sophisticated and intelligent. You will be a little bit...for real. Have fun!
I love when people want to do things like this! Self-improvement rocks!

open a word document and type what you want to say in your own words. Then right click on a word that you want to sound "sophisticated and intelligent". You will get a pull down menu with synonyms as a choice...click on that and read the suggestions... see if any of them work. You can "smarten up" most phrases this way. Just be careful that the synonyms actually say what you mean to say. Good luck!

The 2 most famous big words are "supercalifragilisticexpialidotious" and "antidisestablishmentarianism," but I've never heard anyone actually use them in a sentence . . . except maybe in a sentence like this one.

Depends on what you are trying to say. No matter what words you use, if you don't fully comprehend the meaning of them, you'll sound less intelligent than if you just used the "laymens" term.

They are real words you can use. Just saying words won't make you seem more intelligent; however, look them up and understanding the meanings of each word can make you appear both sophisticated and intelligent.
