use the grapefruit acid as a catalyst.. and a thick copper wire as the cathode and a steel nail covered with Zinc ( galvanized ) or even Zinc itself as the anode. hook those up to the clock by wire and majic!...zee current vill flow and zee clock she will tick tock!

I may have the anode and cathode mixed up but I think that is the outcome the ex calls for.

you need an anod and a cathode, copper and zinc work good. The just connect them to the DC input. Please not, your clock will need to use very little power to work. You usually get about 3~5 volts out of a good grapefruit.

Insert one carbon and one iron rods into the grapefruit and the chemical reation will create electicity or 1.5 volt.

You should check this out. It shows lemons, but just switch lemons with grapefruits and it will be the same.
