For example, I woke up and went out in my living room. I saw my mom and sister watching t.v., which I thought was wierd because we don't watch tv in the morning. On the screen was the south tower, burning.

I was working, taking care of an elderly couple in their 90s and Iam deaf ,their t.v. is not close -captioned , so when the lady called me over , she usually taps the table so I could hear her, and she starts jabbering , I only saw the tower falling and the smoke, and I thaught they were watching a science -fiction movie. Only when I got home and turned the news I realised what had happened1 Next day at work ,I reminde the couple of the bobms and they would not believe me! They told me it must be a new science -fiction film. Even as they watch the news and we talked about it ,they never believe it actually happened. I think that is how they had to deal with it. I tell you thought i was like a zombie for a few days, it was unreal , and then you sit to think what war really does to people! We are in the last step of the dance, from here on there is no tomorrow.

I remember I was in 7th grade in a comp. apps. class and the teachers turned the TV on. I didn't really know what was going on until about 3rd period, when all the sports practices were being cancelled and everyone was talking about the twin towers being attacked. Then when I got home my mom and sister were watching the news and I remember being scared to death. It was the most scared I've ever been in my whole life, and even more so when the president came on that very night and gave a speech about it. Now, today, I look back and pray for the families that lost their loved ones, and the children that were born without a father. God bless them and God bless our troops.

I had just woken up to get ready for work on the morning of September 11, when I heard the news of the attacks. I went to breakfast with my dad and there was only one other person in the restaurant. I went to work and couldn't believe how few people were on the road. It was eerily quiet, like an episode of the Twilight Zone or something. I called my boss to see if we were going to be open that day. I had to wait for awhile, to get word from our corporate office but we were closed that day. I went home and watched the news like the rest of the country.

My husband and I got as usual and turned on the morning news as we always did,We couldn't believe what we saw!The first tower was burning and we thought for a minute that a horrible accident had happened..then we seen the 2nd plane coming in and hit the 2nd tower and we really turned it up then to hear what was happening.I was so tore up and crying my husband made me leave the tv and took me to an older couple we knew to get my mind off of it.I insisted we go home so I could catch up on the latest news.On our way home, gas stations everywhere were packed and police officers were directing traffic!I started to panic and was yelling at him that something was terribly wrong. When we got home I went strait to the tv and I was devastated at what I saw.First one ,then the other fell and I was unconsolable! I thought we were so safe here in America! Then I listened as the plane hit the Pentagon and about the other one that ended up in a field in Pennsylvania.I cried for days,I couldn't sleep and I worried constantly and wondered if there would be more and if so..where.
My heart hurt for all those that lost their lives and the families they left behind.I felt pride and sorrow for those on flight 93 for fighting the way they did and probably saved hundreds or thousands more of innocent people by trying to take the plane back. They gave their lives so that many more would be spared. They were real hereos in my book. And on this day,the 5th anniversary,I think all flags should fly at half-staff in honor of all of the fallen.I am a very patriotic American and proud of it!I have an adopted son in Iraq as we write this..fighting for our freedom from those who would terrorize us again if they had the chance,So I pray for his safe return as well as all of his brother's and sister's in arms and harms way,and I still mourn for the ones that give the ultimate for us,and for their families who have to learn to live without them.

I had a similar experience. I was about to start my first year of college on the 15, and my roommate (also my best friend) came into my room shouting about how our country was under attack, and that I should get up to see.

I thought she was joking at first, until I saw the news. It took me a good ten minutes or so to really wake up and start believing, and then I sat with her for the rest of the morning watching and crying. It was a bad start to a great year for me.

i was at a brunch with my preschool mothers group at our leaders house. i was getting a plate ready for my daughter, i kept hearing them say that a plane hit the tower. i thought that it was just the tower at an airport. i walked into where the TV was and couldn't believe my eyes. i used to love going to the top of the world trade center and seeing the view. i went to "ground zero" in decemer of 2001. there were so many peopel there, looking, jsut like me. i mean hundreds of peopel and it was so quiet. i've never heard NY so quiet.

Well I was at school in 7th grade, then we were all taken out of the school (or to the gym?) for some reason I didn't know then, then I was driven back home where I saw everything on TV.
