Depends on the size of the file. A normal song with CD quality (128kbps) will be about 3-4 mb. Thats about 40 songs. You can lower the quaity to add more songs. Also, try to stick with mp3 files, because they are the most compressed.

128mb Mp3 Player

It depends on the files and how big they are. I've transferred a bunch of my LP records (I actually prefer vacuum tubes in my amplifier and vinyl for my music...) onto my hard disk. My audio capture program will take a 3 minute track and produce a MP3 file of about 3mb, or about 1mb per minute. It varies. So, in my case, my average track is 3 minutes and 3 mb for a file size, so 128/3 means I might get something less than a maximum of 42 tracks (if all are 3 minutes and 3mb in size. 128/3=42+2/3). So, look at the file sizes and sum them up, allow a bit for overhead for the file system in the player (why I might or might not get the max of 42 ideal tracks I calculated), and that is how many will fit. Since there are no "average" sizes to MP3 files, your mileage may vary, as they say...

My the way, a friend of mine recently sent me 4 hours of audio recorded from the radio in 4 separate files. Each file (60 minutes +/- 5 minutes or so each, since he edited at convenient break points near to the hour to not miss anything critical for what he wanted me to hear. Who cares about commercials anyeay?) ran about 25mb on average, so all 4 of the 1 hour (+/- 5 minutes) files would fit in your 128mb device with room to spare.

In mp3 format you are only going to get around 50 songs. But if you convert them into WMA format at 64kbps you can get 100 songs. 64kbps is cd quality for WMA,unlike mp3 which needs to be 128kbps for cd quality. Just remember to uncheck the DRM (Digital Rights Management) feature when converting to WMA or the songs will not play in the player.

Try to get on board with WMA, it is just a better way to get more songs. Consider purchasing a 256mb player, Creative Muvo or Creative Zen is what I use. Comes with the software and tools needed to organize/convert files. I can get nearly 600 songs in wma format on my 1GB player, in cd quality.

only 100, but you can can get a little more mbs and it will hold 500 to 1000 songs. 128mb is like an iPOD shuffle.
