It can be a sign. Your body usually clean out before giving birth. I know for me when that was happening I went into labor within 24 hours.

I love these questions about labor. Believe me, you will KNOW when you are in labor. However, loose bowel movements are sometimes a sign that you will be going into labor soon. Better to have those bowel movements now than when you are up there on that table. GOOD LUCK

i doubt it, but it could bring on labor
relax, drink some cold water or decaf iced tea, maybe take a nap...the bowel movements are probably caused by CRAZY NERVES.....being 38 weeks is enough to cause quite a bit of stress.
You'll know its labor when a contraction rips through your stomach...the first ones don't hurt terribly bad, but you feel them from the inside out...and you know it!
good luck & congratulations!

5 bowel movements in an hour?....Call your doctor, I'm not sure maybe it is preparation for labor.

well you should keep a eye out for your plug and try to sit very still and hold your belly to see if your having contractons you cant feel!
with my FIRST pregnacy when I went into labor I never felt a thing. My mom held my belly and felt my contractions. we headed to the hospital and I promptly delivered
! I never had any pains to warn me!

Did you lose your mucus plug? Within a few days of losing that you usually go into labor.

All women are different, you could have ate something that didn't agree with your stomach. Just wait and see if you start having painful contractions, they will be way more painful than the braxton hicks.
