i am looking at a 74 nova ss auto that is an automatic on the floor but still has the shifter select on the dash. where all dashboards the same or is there a difference?I dont see where the column is missing a shifter but the column may have been changed.

i owned a new 74 SS,,and it had the shifter in the floor but it had the indicator in the dash,,,they came like this,,mine was weird to get used to,,but yes it probably come like this,,as long as it don't have the shifter handle on the dash it is probably a true SS Nova,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

That is a stock set-up. If you look under the car you will see that it should have a cable from the floor shifter, and a linkage set-up going to the column. The only ones without the indicator on the dash were the manual transmission ones.

my 85 monte and my brothers old firebird were the same way this is something the engineers at GM did to confuse us HotRodders if there is no hole in the steering column from the shifter being pulled out and the gear indicator works when you shift on the floor it came that way or someone really spent some time to make a perfect conversion including swapping columns I would guess it is a real floor shift car as this was a very popular option for GM cars especially SuperSports
