The answer is basically that it releases endorphins - the wonder drug that your brain secretes to make you feel good. Unfortunately I've got no proof to back this up, just a vague recolection of asking the same thing in Biology class. So, take with a pinch of salt - at least until I've found a credible source.

You expell germs and other substances that your body feels are harmful. Plus, you clear your lungs and it helps you breathe clearer.
And you get a tingle. I like it too : )

first of all your heart stopped beating, then re-started.
second, you can BREATHE without all that snot in there.
third,you probably shook your brains up pretty well and
it feels like a roller coaster ride.
