Socialized healthcare would be a mistake here. I don't want to spend my tax dollars taking care of the person dying of lung cancer because they chose to smoke, or the person dying of liver disease because they chose to be alcoholics, or the person suffering from hypertension, COPD, and a host of other ailments because they chose to become food addicts and get obese, or the person who's going into rehab for the 10th time because they chose to pick up a crack pipe. I wouldn't mind helping those who are ill through no fault of their own. But, this is America, land of excess, and people abuse themselves. I don't want to have to wait twice as long for healthcare because of that.

Then move to Canada, and sit in the enormous lines. Players from the Toronto Raptors basketball team got in hot water with their government because they came down here to the states to get treatment rather than wait for their turn up in Canada. Healthcare is vital. My greatest wish is that it would be free like you suggest. But I don't think the business practioners in the insurance companies would allow that to happen.

I personally an not willing to give half of every thing I make so you can have free health care. Where do you think the government is going to get the money? How about you pay your bills and I will pay my bills.

the Canadians do...but, why do their middle class and rich come to the US for medical?.....one reason is that Canada in order to all get medical doctors, they dropped the standards WAY down for doctors in Canada.....the pay is similar to a plumber.....so, if you are a citizen in the lower financial status in Canada, you save your money or get US medical insurance to pay for major medicals

i think an intelligent country provides healthcare for its citizens. without proper healthcare you multiply the problems that already exist which make your government weaker by far.
