Are you sure that your computer has an ethernet card? Just hooking up a USB to ethernet adapter will do nothing if the computer is older and doesn't have a card in it.

If this is the case, pick up a D-link (or whatever) ethernet card compatible with your PC for around $30 in any office supply store. Better yet, pick up a wireless card for around $50.

If you know you have this card, go through the internet connection wizard on the PC.

Remember Verizon has nothing to do with it...internet explorer should be able to detect the internet connection regardless of your provider.

No, you could not try this...the two modems will conflict. you may ought to purchase a separate internet line to hook up a 2nd modem. in case you like the two computers to apply the internet, the least complicated and excellent way is to get a router, yet once you particularly do no longer want one you will ought to establish internet Connection Sharing on the optimal laptop after which run a computer-to-computer community between the two. this is a lot harder and does not paintings as stable the two. Routers are very low-priced and are actual stable with the aid of fact they provide you yet another layer of secure practices from hackers.

If u have a wireless router, i take it u have a second wireless card with the entena or wuteva that u put on ur second computer. Youre computer should be able to pick that up and you dont even have to use a cd in most cases... sometimes its automatic.. You simply go to start>connect to>show all connections and u should see a new connection becuz ur comp is already recieving input from the router. IF not, simply create a new connection and you could choose the option where u got a cd from isp-internet service provider and go from there.. If not, go to the "my computer" icon and right click> properties>hardware>divice manager and scroll to ur connections or wut not and try to look for wireless one and see if its activated. U might have to disable ur current one if ur using a different one and activate the new one. gl

On the comp with the router, access the router and get the S.I.D. and security password. Then on the other comp you have to put in the same info. Make sure that the wireless is turned on in the router. Also make sure that you setup both comp themselves to the same info as the wireless devices. this should take care of it. If you have any firewalls, make sure that you set up them to accept the wireless signal transfers.

easy as:

Plug Ethernet from cable/dsl modem to WAN on the router....fire up the router.

Plug or use the WiFi capabilities of your computers.......you should connect. once you are satisfied that you have a good internet connection, follow the instructions for employing WEP to lock down your router so that no one else in the neighborhood can use it.
