There is plenty you should see.... but what you will probably end up seeing is the inside of every pub and casino... good luck to your liver ; )

Ooh, I love Melbourne. If you are in Sydney you should take a tour of the harbour. You will get to see the opera house. If you want to, and you are adventurous, you can climb the harbour bridge. And the Powerhouse Museum is reeeally cool.
In Melbourne, there is so much art and history. The mall in Melbourne has lots of great shopping. There is a huge exhibition center, and lots of history, like the Shrine of Remembrance (to commemorate WWI) and Captain Cook's Cottage. I believe there is a half day tour that lets you stop at a couple of those places.
If you have a whole day in Melbourne, you could take a bus to Mt. Buller and go skiiing!
Talk to a travel agent. They'll know the best places. Or go to www.australia.com
I wish I knew about night life. I only went for a week, but it was a lot of fun.

ooh! I just came back from these 2 places last mth!
I was there 7days each.. i love Melb than Syd. You can do alot of shopping in Melb... sightseeing too.. book a tour to The Great Ocean Road and Philip Island.. shop at Fitzroy and in the Square of Melb, take a walk at the St Kilda's beach... there's so much you can do at Melb!! It is so convenient to travel in Melb with all the trams around!
As for Sydney, you can go to The Rocks, visit the Aquarium.. etc. You can visit any of the Visitor Centre located in the city, and from there, you can get a map and tour around.
So far I have not enjoyed any of the nightlife there, cos it seems like all the shops close very early.
Anyhow, you will sure have a great time! Enjoy and have fun!
:-( i miss Aussie.......

Just go with the flow. There is so much that you wouldn't get round it in nine lifetimes let alone nine days and even if you did plan it you would probably get sidetracked by something else. Australia is a place to be spontaneous.
