how many times does it have to come out for people to gobble up?

especially since none of them even offer commentary from GEORGE LUCAS himself!

maybe if he didn't spend so much time putting these films out on video/dvd and making "collector's edition" action figures of barely seen characters that hang out in the dark background of these films...

and concentrated more on writing...

episode 1 and 2 wouldn't suck as hard as they do!

(but, maybe that's just me)

it's called...

MONEY... in fact this is something that fans have clamored for... the original films.

Hey, if and when I have kids and I want to show them Star Wars... I don't want to show them a watered down Han Solo that shoots to defend himself! Nope... the Han Solo that I thought was cool as a kid, would blow away a bounty hunter with his blaster hidden under the table!

And hey... Lucas is NOT the only one to release "Uber Directors Cuts." or "Ultra Special Editions", etc...

First I have many dvds of star wars with lucas commentarys. Second there are three "versions" of the origonal trilogy. This is the first time that the origonal has come out on dvd. Alot of fans prefer the origonals to the redon editions. But all anyone had was old vhs most of which are so old that they don't work well anymore, so of coarse star wars fans are going to by the dvds, especialy since they also inlucde the most recent redon version.

It's not the fact that they are being released AGAIN, it is the fact that this is the ORIGINAL theatrical version for the first time on DVD. (without the added footage that was on the last release).

Yes they do offer commentary by George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, Carrie Fisher, Lawrence Kasdan, and Irvin Kershner.

I agree that the newer installments suck...

LOL not just you. Others agree that Lucas could stand to hire someone to write his dialog for him.

And you have to give him credit for being a good businessman. Peope will go out and buy the videos AGAIN!

They are being re-released because of the large amount of people upset that he redid a lot of the special effect in the DVD of the original trilogy. The one being released is just like the ones that originally aired in theaters. Original special effect, sound, scenes, everything.

I miss Ewok Celebration at the end of Jedi. Totally ruined the new version.

I miss the old ones sans the CGI.

*sigh*

The reason they are offering them again is because they are now offering them seperately rather than in a box set. That's why they are having the special promotions.

I hate him with a passion.

He turned my fav villain, Darth Vader, into a whiney, burned-up, baby-killer, and cripple with emphysema.
