To me the word anniversery means the return of something happy that happened. But i don't think that the attacks on September 11th were a happy time, so this is why i think that calling it the REMEBERANCE of September 11th would be a more appropriate wording.

I can't wait until tomorrow. This is getting old. I'm sorry but I am tired of listening to this all day today.

I just saw on CNN "Celebrating 9/11" - no kidding.

Compared with that, anniversary seems ok. People observe anniversaries of sad events too, like the anniversary of a spouse's death, for example. It doesn't necessarily mean a happy occasion.

If it's going to be called a "remembrance", the word it should be spelled right - it's not "rememberance" or "remeberance". Maybe that's why people are saying anniversary, because so few people seem to be able to spell remembrance.

I've heard a few radio talk shows discussing whether or not it should be a holiday. I can't imagine it being a holiday with people getting off work, and kids out of school, and shooting fireworks and having picnics, etc., etc. Yes, it should be a day of remembrance, but that's all.

It should be the "rememberance".... 9/11 wasn't a happy day... anyone who doesn't see that must be blind, deaf and dumb.
