I was home getting ready for work and my 3rd grade daughter was waiting for me to drive her to school. She ran in the bathroom and asked me if something just really happened on tv. I was drying my hair and had no idea what she was talking about. I ran to the tv where they replayed the first plane hitting the tower. In shock, I asked her if this is what she was talking about. Just then, the second plane hit. I just could not believe this was happening, and I was watching it on TV as it happening. I wasn't even thinking terrorists - but I wondered if mistakes were occuring at the control towers at the airports???

Then my nephew rang the front bell and told me about the crash at Pentagon - we were overwhelmed and could not believe this was really happening.

I was working at a travel agency - and one of my coworkers brought in a TV because we could not concentrate at all and wanted to know who was responsible for this horrible event.

My daughter was afraid to go to school wondering if she would be safe there.

I now work at my local city hall - and have left the travel business. I will never forget that day that happened in America - and pray every 9/11 for the families whose lives were changed forever by their loss.

I was at work at the Red Cross, and someone said to come look at the TV a plane had hit the WTC. We all ran upstairs - and another plane hit the other building. We knew that we would be responding, but in that first moment - before we knew what we would be doing, before we knew what was to come - I only thought of the people I knew who worked there and that I would never feel safe there again. I didn't know that I would never get a chance to go there again. But I have had plenty of chances to feel unsafe since then.

I will never forget the morning of september 11 2001!! How could you? I got out of bed and started getting ready for work, as far as i knew it was just another typical day.. i was sooo wrong!! My mum called out to me from the lounge room and just by the tone in her voice i knew that something was wrong.. She didn't even speak she just sat rolled up in a ball on the couch crying!! I was devastated when i saw the footage of the second plane going through the twin towers.. I felt sick in my stomach and tears dwelled in my eyes! Initially i wasn't sure what had happened.. but i knew damn well that the world was about to change!! Still to this day the thought of it saddens me. All those innocent lives, just going to work and then it ends..!!! ARRGH it makes me furious!!

I had just got back to my dorm room after a class. I turned onthe tv and it wason every channel. I saw the second plane hit the tower. I felt like i was going to throw up. I watched for a minute or two in shock, then i started calling my family. My aunt and uncle live up in shanksville, pa where the plane went down and i called them. Everyone was ok, thank God.

I can't imagine what those other families went through.

I was at work -- we were holding a job fair and I had sent a staff member out for refreshments and when she came back she told me there was a "plane crash at the WTC." We didn't have access to t.v. there and the internet was clogged, so my husband, who worked nights, gave me the blow-by-blow by phone. When he told me the towers came down, I truly couldn't believe it. I kept imagining something more like Oklahoma City, where a part of the building fell. He kept saying, "Sara, it's just gone." But I really didn't believe it until I got home that night and saw it for myself.
