The text I had recieved was about my family and the information in it I wouldn't know anyone to know. It was very disturbing and I was hoping to research and find the sender. I'm close to calling the police, but don't want to over react if it was just a random act of stupidity. I had posted a similar question recently but I am new to this web site and didn't relize that by rating an answer I wasn't able to recieve more. Please, any suggestions would be great!! Thank you!

It's easy to spoof the address of origination of an email or SMS message. There's probably not too much the cops can and will do. I'd ignore the initial message. If you start getting harassed by them, then go to the police.

if you visit http://www.besms.com you will see on the main page that ANYONE can send a message to a phone somewhat anonymously, as is demonstrated by the generic sender address of txt@besms.com.

under normal circumstances i'd suggest reporting it as abuse to the website but it seems to be purely a 'sales' website designed to sell sms services with the ability to send a message from the site as a 'demonstration' rather than a dedicated full service.

sadly lots of these sites are used to send anonymous and malicious messages and chances are it's someone you know very well.

as with any kind of bullying, they only have power over you if you let it affect you - just try to ignore it and they'll soon get bored when they see you're not reacting.

Be more than close to calling the police. call them. First ask your family members who knew anything about the contents of the message, if none, you could be inserious danger.
