I work at an in-bound call center. I take calls on customer complaints etc. On Sept. 10th I took a call from man disputing a bill and I started an investigation.
On Sept. 11th, I arrived at work around 10:00 AM EST. My first call was a follow up call on the issue the day before. That caller suddenly asked me if I had been watching TV. I said "No, I'm at work" [a little annoyed at the question]. She's the one that told me.
My first reaction was that it was probably an accident. I could imagine a small private plane hitting the building. I blew it off. Within a few seconds I found out what really occurred, and saw the news footage later that day.
I talk to 50 customers a day, I will always remember the name of that man I was helping that day.
I was to go to a meeting that night, but I skipped it. Found out later it was called off...no surprise there. I went to church. When I got there, I went into the men's room. There I saw the pastor of our college ministry. He's from Kuwait. I heard later that he had addressed the crowd that had gathered and said it was probably other middle Easterners that had done this. He is a former Muslim and he was beyond upset.
The next night, I went to another service at my church and just worshiped and cried. You know that song "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?" I still have trouble listening to that without crying.

I was at work. We had the blinds shut, cause the sun was glaring our pc screens. Someone walks in, says a plane hit the WTC, and it can been seen from where we are. No one reacted and just went about their work. Curiosity got me to get up and peek through the blinds. Sure enough, the one tower was on fire. I was just like "what a dumb BLEEP pilot, crashing into the WTC." Eventually, we opened the blinds, passing around a pair of binoculars for a closer look. When I fisrt saw the 2nd plane, I thought it was just a News plane going to circle the towers. Boy was I wrong as we saw a second explosion. A co-worker blurted out "this has got to be terrorist" and right then and there we knew it had to be. I didn't see the first tower go down, but I'll never forget watching the second tower through binoculars, and then suddenly witnessing it come down.

I had a job interview that morning, but the V.P. with whom I was to interview called in sick at the last minute. I returned to my car to go back home, and immediately began crying. My beloved husband had died 2 yrs earlier on 9/11/99, and I had been on a leave of absence to care for our 2 little babies. Thus, I was secretly glad the guy called in sick, and was able to finally give way to the tears I'd been fighting back since 5 a.m. that morning.
I'd had the radio on during the 40-min. drive to the interview to keep a check on traffic, etc., and it was still turned on when I started up the car. Over my crying, I heard the announcers going bonkers....and all hell breaking loose.
My immediate thought: How many children are now orphans? How many working parents left home that morning, perhaps with a child still at home, or in a day care center, not knowing that they'd never live to see them again? Who would pick up those kids at the day care center or school if they lost their parent(s) right then, and had no other family, etc. nearby?????? If it had been MY kids losing ME that morning, their life would have been even more of a train wreck than it already was.
I began praying right then and there for those kids...

This all happened about 1:45pm UK time, and I'd been very poorly in bed that day. It was evening when I had eventually risen, and I switched on the t.v., saw a burning building and thought: 'another terrorist attack'.
That's all my thoughts were, and I tuned to another station. The IRA had made the terrorist attack pretty much nomal over here, so I didn't give it very much attention. I thought it was London (Canary Wharf, perhaps), not knowing it was the USA that had suffered.
It was later on that evening that I got the full horror of what had happend.

My wife woke me up to tell me that not just one, but two planes had crashed into the World Trade Center, and that the authorities suspected possible terrorism. Somewhat stunned, I nevertheless got up, and took a shower to get ready for work.
Then I called my mom, who didn't know about it till I told her. While I was on the phone with her, my TV was on but muted, and the screen split to also show a smoldering Pentagon, alongside the smoking Twin Towers. "Oh my God, they got the Pentagon!," I told my mother.
I eventually went on to work, like any other day, only to find that our building was closed. So I drove back home and on the freeway I noticed a woman in a car alongside mine was crying.
Got home and just didn't know what to do with myself. Went into my garage and dug out my American flag and hung it on the pole outside. Then I bawled my eyes out.
Never forget.

Waiting for a plane in Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport.....didn't get on the plane, some iffy times as everyone left the airport. Didn't know what was going on, but getting away from there seemed like a good idea.

I was home here in Virginia preparing to increase my wealth by turning on CNBC on the TV and saw Mark Hains, remarking on the burning buildings "I've never seen anything like this before". I knew the building would collapse from my engineering experience on how steel softens as it becomes superheated.

I was on jury duty in the middle of a trial. The court attendant came in, whispered something in the judge's ear and all of us were escorted out of the court. The very very scary since we were in a federal building.

I was at work and the security guard told us, I was devasted because I used to work in the WTC, and knew many of the people who lost their lives. To make it even more difficult, my cousin's Aunt and her friend and daughter were on two seperate planes and they lost their lives as well. It was a SAD day.
