A guilty verdict means death -- but the jury's not about to let that spoil their day. Twelve men must decide the fate of an 18-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing his father

This is an interesting film---the entire action takes place in a jury room, and all the jurors are men, sort of a cross-section of types of people in a large city, never named, but probably New York. They are of all ages and types, but are "generally" middle-class, and "generally" better off than the boy from the slums accused of murder of his abusive father. One man (played by Lee J. Cobb) is sort of out of control. At first, 11 men on the jury vote "guilty", probably because they are anxious to get the process over with and leave. The one man (played by Henry Fonda) who votes innocent/not guilty is the calmest, quietest, and most educated of the group of men (he is an architect). The action of the movie is how he convinces all the other men to vote not-guilty, because of the "holes" he explains in the prosecution's case. Lee J. Cobb, filled with anger at his OWN son, is the last hold-out, and finally gives in and votes not guilty.

12 people, different ages, different background, must learn to communicate and come to an agreement on the verdict of a trial. Everyone's baggage comes into play as the movie plays out.

Think it shows that being tried by 12 of one's peers can be very dangerous, as each bases his decision on his personal predujices, and that one strong character (Henry Fonda) can lead and sway the jury in a completely different direction.
WATCH THE FILM!
