It's a big waste of tax dollars for some of the drugs.

The war on drugs is a waste of taxpayers dollars. The war on drugs can not be won because though people are getting educated on drugs and the lifestyle they mostly lead to, such as being without a purpose in life, there is a point at which people need to see that drugs bring in to much money to ever be successfully fought. Think of all the DEA agents in the country that also depend on these same drugs for a living, what about all the banks that depend on these drug lord's money to keep the stock holders satisified, sheriff departments that use the money from the busts they make to fuel their retirement funds and to benefit officers families that are slain ect, or how about the fact that a lot of people that have money are those same folks that will not pass laws that legalize drugs like the drugs are in Holland so that the state and federal government can collect tax revenue for the drugs, in Holland they have no problems with drugs cause they are legal and like alcohol here not for sale to minors, done in places set up for that ect. They have no drug task force nor DEA and get along well. So though it would pain many here to know it there is no way that the government wants the war on drugs to be won, they make sure with the lawyers, judges, cops ect. do as little as possible to do so.

The war on drugs is definately a losing propostion. We learned prohibition doesn't work.
In Amsterdam you can get an ounce of hash for like $15, which costs like $1,000 retail in America. That's a lot of profit taking that would go down the tubes.
Let's look at legal drugs. You need E-mycin it's $50 for 20 tabs in American and $20 for 200 tabs in Canada.
That's a lot of profit taking.
You have Rosacia it costs between $150 and $200 a month to treat with American pharmacies and about $25 a month to treat with Canadian pharmacies.
YOu want Seconal legally, you go to Tiajuana walk into a pharmacy and ask for it. Cost is $25 for 50 pills.
You want it in America have to pay a doctor $50 to $125 for the prescription and then pay the pharmacy $50 for 20 pills.
Coca leaves cost $5 a bushell in South America and Cocaine costs $25 a gram on the streets in the US.
If it were legalized there would be a book shelf full of rules you have to meet to provide the product. Only a drug company is set up to do that.
If you legalized it all, a good slice of America would become poor suddenly, because they are rich by being importers, distributors and middle men.
CVS or Rite Aide would take that job away from them.
There are also currently legal ways to get into a drug state.
Fresh turkey meat, for example, floods the body with sedative like chemicals that lowers you speed, mellows you out, makes you feel good and satisfied.
It's perfectly legal to do and works quite well.
Do enough of a study on bio-chemistry and you can find all sorts of "off the shelf" products that will induce your body into a chemical state.
Why do you think pregnant girls and girls who just lost their lover eat whole boxes of chocolate icecreame.
It creates a chemical state.
Chocolate is a definate bio-chemical inducer and it's harmful to feed it cats and dogs. That's how serious the bio-chemical properties are.
Yet any 6 year old with 60 cents can buy a chocolate bar.
Wouldn't it be strange if the drug cartels are lobbying governments to keep it illegal just so they can get a grip on the $$$$!
Marijuana would be a cash crop if they made it legal.
It would pull very little on the Chicago agriculture exchange, but by the time it reaches CVS or PAyless it's up to $25 or 30 an ounce.

We are losing the war on drugs. There are more people in prison for drug offenses than any other crime. I'm not seeing prison time as working as a deterrent to drug crimes.
Drugs are a way to get rich quick. Many dealers are very intelligent and are non-drug users and have surrounded themselves with such a network that they will never be caught. I'm guessing selling drugs is an easy way to make lots of money with little manual labor, if a person can live with constantly looking over their shoulders in fear of rivals or the law.
I can't comment much about drug use since I've never used an illegal drug in my life. I cannot comprehend the way drugs take over a person's life to the exclusion of everything else. I cannot imagine using my income for drugs instead of caring for my family. I don't get it and never will.
Anyway, I just think it's a war that can't be won. Perhaps the government should legalize drugs and collect taxes on them. I'm not sure that that's a workable solution or not, but it's a thought.

I, personly, would not try a drug.
All the drugs seem like thay are legal now because many people from young to old use it and some even use it freely. I believe that if a person is taking drugs, that can and are harmful to human health, that's their problem. You can't stop one person from doing something they enjoy. Just like you cannot stop someone of worshipping a god(s).
Maybe someone is thinking what about the dangers of our children/young people that are at risk and may be influenced to take drugs?
Well that's where the parent/ resonsible adult steps in. Parents and all adults that care for, not only their children but others, have the obligation to warn/ teach their child{ren} of the dangers.
We cannot fix/ stop all the violence and bad that's in this world but we can set those things aside and not pay attention to them and focus on the good and healthy.

I think anyone who gets involved in drugs is an idiot and they are doomed to a crappy life.
That said, the amount of money spent on it has been ridiculous if you total up everything. There has also been almost no payoff. Therefore for all the reasons we repealed the anti-alcohol laws, we might as well do the same. All we are doing at this point is driving the cost up to the point where it causes a large amount of crime on top of the other problems. And we are putting a bunch of people in jail and ruining their lives, for them ruining their own lives. I have not seen the point in it for a long time.

I personally believe the "War on Drugs" to be a rediculous charade.
The US Goverment has allowed, encouraged, and profited from the smuggling of illegal drugs into the US on many occasions. I feel that it is pointless that they are cracking down on kids who make Meth in their basement, and sell some weed to a friend, when they have profited off of mass importation of illegal drugs in a big way. Personally, I think that some illegal drugs (opium, marijuana, etc) should be legal, and taxed, and regulated much like tobacco products and alcohol. Cigarettes and alcohol products are just as dangerous, habit-forming, and unhealthy as most "gateway" drugs, sometimes even moreso.
I don't do any drug, and I never plan to, cigs, beer, martinis, weed, its all habit-forming, controlling, and not appeasing at all to me, however I see no difference between the human addicted to cigarettes, the alcholic, and the opium addict. Why discriminate?

it is wasting good policeman/women's lives, its costing us tons of money and its unwinnable. if it were legal, then people wouldn't be stealing as much trying to get money for it. if it were legal, inner city gangs wouldn't be rich with drug money, so you'd drastically cut down on gangs. and your taxes would go down(well that depends on what the politicians do with all the extra tax money they would get from taxing the drugs that are sold). and the most important reason is. Its a free country, if people want to do recreational use of drugs and they're not hurting anyone else, then let them, people are allowed to get drunk, and smoke cigarrettes until their lungs are withered away and they're barely able to breathe on a hospital bed with emphysema or lung cancer. so why not let them use other drugs. You cant make illegal everything that's bad for people, what's next limits on how many times we can go to mcdonalds to eat big macs..? i think there are a lot of people that agree with me on this, but its politically incorrect to say so. especially because of the stigma that's associated with "drug use", even though millions of children are hooked on ritalin and other drugs... but it carries no stigma only becuase they are legal drugs. but that's a little off my point. Don't forget all the drugs that come from afghanistan and those countries that could be grown here instead so we would have to buy drugs from them. The war on drugs should be no more.

It is a good thing that we "fight against drugs" buttttttttt, If this were a PERFECT WORLD and it is NOT ..there will be more increase in drugs. WHY ?? Well it clearly states in Bible (new testiment) that in the LAST Days Sorcery will INCREASE ! That word (Sorcery) translated in I believe in the greek means Pharmakia "DRUGS"!!!! I wish we could look foward to better and safer times BUT it is here and getting worse as the end time nears. Opening the door to legalize marijuna is just opening the flood gates to other drugs. God help us if that happens. Your own kids get violent with thier parents over a six pack of beer to get a buzz !! God help us all !!

We are losing and losing badly. First there's the drug problem itself. I don't see fewer adicts but more. Then there's the fact that terrorist and organized crime reap huge profit from the illegal drug trade. If these drugs were not illegal their value to organized crime and terrorist would be much less.
Also the jails and prisons are busting at the seams, the law enforcement people don't want to admit it but somewhere around 70% of the inmates are there on drug offences. Forcing them to release violent offenders.
Finally we're losing freedom. Police departments have gone seizure crazy. Grabing cars, cash, guns and whatever private property they claim as ill gotten gains. Often whether or not the person is convicted of a drug crime or not the property is seized.
If someone is not bothering you its none of your business and it's certainly none of the goverments business. If drugs weren't illegal there would be less violence and organized crime wouldn't pay.

I think more action should be taken in the war against drugs. Its not just marijuana that's popular now. Crystal Meth has just made a comeback, and as everybody should know, it can be quite a dangerous substance. More government money should be put into research and investigations connected with drug busts and ways to decrease the rate of drug abuse. Drugs are the core reason of many crimes, and if you decrease drug useage among individuals, you'll also decrease rates of crime such as robbery and murder, not to mention deaths among its users.
