and if they're chords, how do u no which chord 2 play?

It depends. If you are reading chords (represented by letters), then I think I might know what you're talking about. If it's something like A/D, for example, that means you have to play A major and the bass should play the note D.

They represent chords. If you look at the two notes individually, you will see that they are both two notes on the scale. Play them together, and you have correctly played the note.
