I think it has to do with The wizard of Oz and the song 'Somewhere over the rainbow" apparently a lot of older homos think that is the most bestest movie ever and they bonded and identified with Dorthy played by Judy Garland and the whole drag queen scene. The whole rainbow flag was then invented in 1973 by a lesbian named Helen Wildaughter (It was wilson but she changed it to wildaughter) she found poetry in taking the song 'somewhere over the rainbow' and changing it into a symbol, Its believed she spent 2 years developing an appropriate symbol for the song. In the end Helen Wildaughter choose a rainbow flag that was quickly adopted by homos everywhere. Originally the idea of a symbol was to have something that homos could identify each other with that the breeders wouldn't realize was a gay symbol, they would be out of the loop and not realize it meant they were gay. In the end, straight people figured it out...guess the homo's couldn't put one over on the straight people. Now the Human Rights symbol is being used and also the bumper sticker that says "I'm not gay but my boyfriend is"

The "rainbow flag" was embraced by the gay/lesbian community to signify people of all races, walks of life. We are all one. It is not a homo rainbow. It is all of us being treated with respect, whether we are young, old, straight, gay, poor, or of any color. The 'Rainbow Flag' represents all of humanity. Sorry, I don't know my history, but I bet it can be
found on the internet.

All I can gues is that a rainbow is a symbol of God's promise to never flood the earth again. God flooded out all the evil on the earth that was happening. I suppose that the gay community would embrace that God's promise still stands, that he will never flood the earth again...however, doesn't mean they won't be judged.

Many years ago when we realized that we were part of every nation, every race, every generation, every religion, every society and every culture. When we realized that there was more of us than of you. Disarmingly sweet isn't it? We are simply biding our time.
