Common law has merged into civil law for all intended purposes in many jurisdictions.

On your Yahoo home page, type common law into your search line and check the listing of sites that come up. Click on the bold blue lettering of the site(s) you wish to look at. Bookmark or add to Favorites, then type into the search line, civil law and check those listings and bookmark or add to favorites. Then you can go back and read and compare. Or you can enter both: "Compare common law and civil law, and see what that brings up. You can Bookmark or save the sites you want, to Favorites. That way you can go back and read them more thoroughly later.

You might want to print out the information to be able to do side by side comparisons.

The above answer got on while I was composing mine. I am reasonably certain that common law and civil law are still distinctly different things and they have not merged.
