so where is it grown, and what is the perfect growing environment/conditions? and will it be able to grow in a residential yard in northern california? thanks...and any other information you know

you shouldnt have any problems in the northstate, unless you are in an alpine region..

i live at 1400 feet above sea level in butte county, and my jasmine plant is doing splendidly

rodales encyclopedia of organic gardening says that jasmine will grow heartily as far north as maryland..

another point, is that you may want to locate it close to a window of your abode, as it will fragrence the room that it is near, when it is blooming..

Most reputable nurserys will have preferred growing zones to help you get a plant that will flourish.
Here in Georgia, the Star Jasmine is known as the Confederate Jasmine since it's been cultivated here since the Civil War era.

I live in the horse latitudes Santa Barbara and it grows like wild fire.
