I have a tweed miniskirt with brown buttons going down the front. Is there anything specific that you're supposed to wear with tweed, or can I just wear say a brown shirt with it?

It's a naturally heavier fabric, so it should be paired with a lighter fabric. Wear it with a long sleeved cotton shirt, and later when winter comes, wear it with a turtleneck and cardigan sweater.
Depending on the color brown, if the brown is close to the same shade of the buttons, you will do very well with that. Make sure it's not one of those thin cotton blousy kinds, that's too thin of a fabric to go with tweed.
Sounds like a beautiful skirt though - good find!

Just a brown sweater, or white/off-white, either lightly or untextured/patterned. You might even be able to get away with black, depending on the look of the skirt.
And to pasta326, a nation in mourning and all you have to do is sit on the computer berating others for living their lives? Nice. I'm sure your eyes are so bleary with tears that you can hardly see your criticisms on the screen.

I think a crisp white oxford shirt will give it a bit of a "sexy prep school" look. Also a brown knit sweater would be nice. Just keep it modest on top since the bottom is mini.

i know exactly what skirt you're talking about. a girl in one of my classes wears it with a brown lacey camisole or cute fitted tee under a brown blazer or velvet green blazer (she alternates) sometimes with a hoodie underneath the blazer, and black lace tights with i think brown suead(sorry for spelling error but you know what i'm talking about) boots that go halfway up the lower half of her leg. yeah this is crazy descriptive but she wore this outfit frequently the whole year i had class with her. it's a cute outfit but i was never too fond of her attitude though.. anyways you probably don't live near us so go ahead and copy if you want. =]

IHi. I think a soft, cashmire top with a slight tutle neck, some gold accessories, brown tights and brown boots would look cute. Very sophisticted but sexy. You could substitue some flats but I would make them a little dressier.

tweed is a thick, course, heavy fabric so pair it with a smooth-textured light fabric.
