If it is window film(tint) it can be removed with a spray bottle of ammonia and water. Spray it on the window and let it soak a bit before peeling and using a delicate razorblade on the film. It does take some time to do this and is very tedious if you are willing, but I would recommend a window tint shop to do it for you, it's around $100 to have done. If the surface has some ripples or bubbling you have window film. I've never heard of tinted glass getting flakey. Good Luck with the windows.

OK all you knuckleheads, listen up. There is no removing of factory tint. It's part of the glass. The only kinds of tint you can remove are film-type tints and flow-on tints. If you want to go ahead and get each piece of glass replaced with a non-tinted replacement at a glass shop for at least two hundred bucks a piece, go ahead. What kind of car is it? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that maybe it's not factory tint and maybe you have a shot at getting it off. But bear in mind that it is not easy and if you're not careful you will scratch the windows.

Factory applied tint is not very dark so they can sell it in all states. To remove tint in general it is easiest to go to a place that applies it and they will remove it as well. Not sure on what the cost would be though.

I would say you don't have factory tint as it is not that dark, someone probably had the windows tinted darker with paper tint. To get paper tint off it will peel off but it will leave a sticky film on the window and the only way to get that off is with nail polish remover or W-D40.

Are you sure it is a factory tinted glass vs. a tinted film? The film can be removed, the deep privacy glass, such as found in SUV's and vans, are there until you bust them out.

Repalce the window with a Non-Tinted window, no other option that I know of. Quite pricey though.

Head over to a glass shop and see if they'll trade your tinted glass for some of their clear glass.
