I don't see anything wrong with you asking this question. You didn't say that you agreed with slavery and if you do that is your business.

Basically, whites bought slaves to work their fields and at their plantation homes. Alot of black families were sepated, like mom to one owner, dad to another, and kids to another. The children born to the slaves became the property of the white owner. If the slaves didn't do as they were told, they were severely punished. Alot of plantation owners, had sex with their slaves and had children with them, which of course they would never claim.
I researched my mothers family history, and I found out that my great, great, great grand father owned a plantation and had slaves.

It may not have been right, but it was a part of history. Can't be changed.

There are some good movies about the Cival War and about slavery. The North and the South, Gone With The Wind (my favorite) are a couple.

Check the ***** History books, you'll find the truth about slavery, not just some made-up stories.
