In my personal search for jobs at home or on-line, I have failed at finding something that actually was legitimate. If the company requires money do not try this. These are scams. I even tried working for a company called NHCD. National Health Care Discount. I thought it was reasonable for them to offer unlimited long distance for the contractors that they employed. So I did this. However, It has been over a year now and they refuse to stop withdrawing from our account this 'fee' for the long distance. After writing them twice, they claim they never received a letter discontinuing the contract. After several calls, they do not call back.
I recently received a letter saying that I need to make 100 calls in order to be able to cancel the withdraw. They however, do not allow me to use the codes I need to make those calls.
Bottom line, do not sign on with any company that requires any money, and if they seem legitimate, make sure you read all of the fine print. And most of all be prepared for a battle to get your money back (if you spend money).

The legit sites don't ask you for any money to join, they get paid from their sponsors and give you a certain percentage of the money that they make from each survey that you do..Also what I found out was most of the "site" you have to pay to belong too, offer you outdated lists or only last a few months..they take your money and run and start up another site..but there are legitimate free to join surveys sites, personally I belong to the "top five" and I just spend about an hour a night doing surveys. I have been making an extra income doing surveys for over 6 months now, best thing is I get paid good money monthly
To try to be helpful, I will post the link that I used to get started

Honestly, I dont' have personal experience with the survey sites you have to pay for--because I was warned against doing that and stayed away. At best they just list other legitimate sites which are free to join, so it's really a waste of money, from what I've read. (There was a fairly good article in one of the a parenting magazine earlier this year about it--Think it was Parents but I'm not sure).
I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following, if you are interested. All of them are free to sign up with. Signing up for several you might be able to make $20 a month or so.

Here's some other things you should watch for when siging up for surveys:
Watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.
Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Watch out for sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties.

I've never joined the pay first survey sites but i am a member of 15 free survey sites... I make around $100 a month sometimes more...Here are some of the ones that I can remember... I'm gonna look for the web address for the rest... I haven't been to their actual web sites in awhile because they just send me surveys through email... I'm gonna get the rest of them for you... just give me some time to find the sign up web address'...

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW: You only get money for completing the surveys and sometimes you might not qualify... I get more surveys than most people because Of my age/sex/family size/ and the fact that I'm pregnant.... These survey sites are free and you do get paid sometimes you get to try free products that haven't even been released to the public yet... I love participating in these... IF YOU WANT MORE SURVEY SITES LET ME KNOW AND I'LL SEND YOU AN EMAIL WITH THEM...

If it is a survey, you don't need to fork out a single cent for registeration. I believe it could be a scam coz once you provide the data they wanted, they can easilyy hacked into you system to do whatever they wanted to do.

I tried this. And it is a scam because you do the surveys and it tells you that you will into a drawing where u might win money instead of giving you the money. You can register to it then call and tell them u dont want it anymore and they will give you your money back.

Never pay a fee for survey companies.
Work from Home Guide has lists of FREE survey companies you can join if you are interested. They won't charge you for it either.
