If they were to remake the spaghetti western trilogy, who would be cool enough to assume the role of "the man with no name" originally portrayed by Clint Eastwood?

I asked my husband (because he's the Clint Eastwood fan) which young actor he thought could pull off remakes of the spaghetti westerns. He surprised me by answering Viggo Mortenson (think of his role in "Hidalgo"). I think Viggo's a little too old.
My husband's second choice was Brad Pitt (think "Legends of the Fall"). I didn't choose Brad, myself, because I can't help but think of him as a pretty boy, but acting-wise he could probably do it.
Strangely enough, I chose Johnny Depp (DON'T think "Pirates of the Caribbean"). When I said that out loud, my husband agreed that Johnny could do it because the man can play ANY part.
I have the strange feeling that we're both overlooking an obvious choice.

The Good: Hugh Jackman or Nathan Fillion
The Bad: Chris Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones or Sir Ben Kingsley
The Ugly: Joaquim De Almeida or Benicio Del Toro
In a spoof version ...
The Good: Charlie Sheen
The Bad: Jim Carrey
The Ugly: Jack Black or Joaquim De Almeida (again)

Someone not obviously heroic like the aforementioned J Phoenix is a good shout-certainly not his brother (if he were still alive) or someone like leonardo do caprio.
I think you'd want to choose the LEAST likely person for the job-a real fish out of water.
What about Hugh Grant?
Saying that the flaw in your idea is that all these remakes are rubbish, and a remake of 'fistful of dollars' would probably be no different.

Clint is one of a kind - and I have been a fan my whole life.
If I have to pick, I think Joaquin Phoenix would be good in a Western, and can play it cool enough to take on a Clint Eastwood role. Sean Penn could do a reasonable job, too. But I think they both might be too short.

Hugh Jackman
Always thought he looked like a young version of Clint Eastwood even though he doesn't look like Clint did when he was younger!?
Does that make any sense at all? No more vodka for me!!
Didn't he play a young Clint at the start of Space Cowboys?

Possibly Antonio Banderas, purely for his role in Desperado - similarly, Johnny Depp (Once upon a time in Mexico) or possibly Jean Reno.
I actually think Lee Van Cleef would be harder to replace in some ways than Clint

Maybe Johnny Depp or Jude Law, but then again maybe the best thing to do is to leave those movies alone, some are just too classic to be remade.
