Alba was born in Pomona, California to Mark Alba who is of Mexican-American descent and Cathy Jensen of Danish, French-Canadian, English and Italian descent. Alba was raised in an Air Force family, along with her brother, Joshua Alba, and her grandparents until she was sixteen. She grew up a sports fanatic. Her father's Air Force career took the family to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Del Rio, Texas, before they settled back in California...hershey kiss is sooo wrong!..lol..;)

Her father is Spanish/Mexican-American, her mother is French/Danish. Her screen debut was the movie Camp Nowhere in 1993, then she went on to television and starred in Flipper. In 1999, she starred in Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands and in 2000 she starred in the television series "Dark Angel."
