Sometimes it depends on how it got cracked. If it froze, buy another one. If it overheated -- also buy another. If it were involved in a collision and an engine mount brkt cracked, it may be repairable as long as there are no water jackets or oiling ports damaged. A really good welder can repair a block or head perfectly and the weld will hold for life.

it doesnt matter where it is cracked it is junk if you try to repair it sure you will save some money now but it will cost you later on it will not hold you can only weld one side it wont seal and DO NOT TRY JB WELD that is a waste of time in the long run it is going to be cheaper to get a new engine if you try to repair this one you are going to be paying tow bills and time from work when you break down on the way i have seen very many of them be repaired and it wont hold

Put BarsLeak in if water's leaking out. If there's oil leaking out, you could grind the crack out and put JB weld in it. I fixed a tranny that way.
Good luck!

Sometimes you can exopy it. If it is on the side of the block it will work fine.
