is a little cynical when targeting women? Do you feel insulted by perfume ads or do you fall for them hook, line & sinker?
Do you think men or women are behind these adverts?

I was watching an advert for Sarah Jessica Parker's perfume, and I thought "Do women really buy into this rubbish?" Just wanted to know if you do!

Yep. Deeply manipulative. They set up insecurity and body dysmorphia in women, make them ashamed of their bodies' shapes, and then set up their product as the One True Cure For All Their Woes.
Snake oil merchandising is alive and well, and working for the advertising and cosmetics industries.

I can't stand the domestic cleaning ads - they're designed to make women feel guilty about everything!
Ads are written and designed by creative teams of both genders, although in my experience, there are more men in advertising than women. There's also a lot of psycho babble that goes on in the targeting (most perfume ads are actually aimed at men who they hope will buy the perfume for their women!), and the clever little b*ggers know just what buttons to press. That's why there's so much money sloshing around the industry.

Adverts help you know that things exist. Would you rather have no adverts and have to find out information on your own. How would you do it? Think about it have you ever bought anything that has been the result of an advert in any way? posters, shop windows, the media, newspapers the Internet they are all forms of advert.

I think that all advertising that targets women is rather insulting
- lets examine those hair colour ads featuring andi mcdowell or
davina mccall - DO THEY REALLY think WE WOMEN believe that they colour their OWN HAIR jeez give us some credit ad men - dont make me laugh. She might be 'worth it' but Im worth more than that insult! As for perfume I only buy one AFTER I have sampled it !! (It may smell dire on me) every woman knows perfume smells different on everyone!! AD MEN are so dumb

I think UK advertising is unfair to men. Men are portrayed as dumb ("There's even enough left for a snooker table!" "NO! There isn't!"), gulliable ("You think they are laughter lines, she thinks they are worry lines!") or just dispensable (That's good! One less thing for her to worry about!").
Anyone with any sense knows adverts are false. The only seemingly honest one is the one who says "It does exactly what it says on the tin!" and as I don't d-i-y, I can't verify THAT claim!

advertising is totally cynical when targeting everybody, especially children who do not yet have the coping skills to deal with the power of persuasion!
Ad-execs are the devil's spawn and should be ostracised from all decant society.
I would like to start a campaign right now "spit on an ad-exec today"...............just joking
