You REALLY need a new hose -- before you end up in your local hospital burn unit. Thermostat also needs to be in in order for the engine to operate correctly. Overheating can be related to radiator blockage, cooling fans failure, bad water pump, etc.

Could be a resticted radiator, think of the hose sprayer. Pressure drop after the restriction. Pressure builds before the restriction. By the way, best way to check thermostat is a thermometer and a pan of boiling water. Should open between 170 to 200 degree F.

when a hose gets old or weak. it will swell and it also will close up on you. when it swells the inside lining of the hose has separated like a recapped tire. and the contents will shut off the flow of water or shut it off to a point where it will overheat. i have had it done to me several times in my driving. take the cap off and watch the water flowing thru the radiator and then squeeze the hose together and see if it makes any difference in the flow.

Should replace that hose before it breaks and a car will run hotter with the thermostat out, put a 160 degree in it if you have to. Maybe your radiator needs flushed or your waterpump is bad.

check manifolds and risers could be restricting flow and causing excessive pressure but little cooling flow.
