to have graduated in a load of debt, than to have never pursued a degree at all? If you are; broke, not good at working and school (employees dont necessarily care if you are in school), scared of loans, got bills, live with family who doesnt care that you are in school and make every possible noise when you are at home trying to study because you have worked all day and is too tired to drive to the library 20 minutes away it stresses you out, and you can't get passed college algebra for some reason, and everybody that you started with is finished and getting jobs, and telling you things that you never heard of because you never get to spend that much time at school because you have to work, but you keep at it, and everytime you start a new semester something strange always happens that sets you back, .......etc IS IT JUST ME? Am i supposed to be a weed smoking, 40 oz drinking, bad hair weave wearing, food stamp collecting, welfare check cashing, ghetto baby mama, who will cut a *****?

thanks sglmom. I am going back to school. just could never figure out why finishing has been so hard for me. and never hear from other people who have had some hard times but still achieved. only people who have given up. i went to college own my own initiative, but didnt know anything except what i wanted to major in. found out so much after it was to late. staff isnt always helpful. they assume you should know everything. older students are much better to talk to though. the ones my age are out for themselves. they dont share too much useful information if you are not their friend, which is why i'd rather go to school at night. i love going to school, it has just been a struggle for me. but i still keep going back.

Wow -- what a defeatist attitude ...

First of all -- check the negativity at the door.

Second -- go to the Instructor for the College Algebra Course -- and get the INFORMATION on the Tutoring Program Available -- and TAKE ADVANTAGE of these tutors -- they are FREE and a ready resource to HELP YOU PASS The COURSE! They are mostly Graduate Students in the Subject area -- so you can be sure you are getting someone that knows the subject well.

Third -- YES, it can be done -- work AND Study -- and I did this while working full time, AND did this again WHILE pregnant, with another Infant for a Graduate Degree too -- all while undergoing Deployments and TDYs because I was Active Duty Military.

Yes, it is just you.
I think you're looking for reasons to not go.
If you don't want to, then don't. But don't make up silly excuses and play the blame game.
Going to university takes discipline and if you aren't committed then give it up right now.
I had it easy compared to you Americans - university is MUCH cheaper here and the government will pay for it if you can't and defer the debt until you earn enough to pay it back. We can also get a small living allowance if we can't work which never has to be repaid.
But I chose to work full-time and study full time with all the distractions associated with being in my 20s - parties, drinking, etc.
Was it easy? No! But if you want it bad enough, you'll do it.
