It is easier to kill (or die) if your think that the life is not really over.

If the naiive suicide bombers didn't believe that they would be 'rewarded' with 72 virgins would they do it?

I'd like to tell that that they will also receive 72 mother-in-laws.

Religion! Ugggh!

I think so for reasons like war and that religion is supposed to bring people together and not apart and so on..... that maybe it would be better without it. I am agnostic bordering on athiest and so I guess that's easy for me to say but some people really need religion, even if only to have someone to talk to, confide in and believe that everthing will be okay because of. What upsets me though is that some people think that having morals and religion are one and the same. I do not have religion but I sure as hell have morals, a good head on my shoulders etc. I don't do the right thing because I'm worried about my afterlife, I do the right thing because it's the right thing and I care how people feel and well that's a little off topic.. I'll stop ranting now. Thanks..bye :)

I think the world would be a better place if everyone had religion
tolerance. The problems stem from people not being able to
accept a religion other than their own. Too many people want
the world to pray one way and only one way...their way. We
look down a religion if it doesn't hold the same views as us.
The strife in the middle east with their holy wars. If the entire world could just learn to tolerate better we just might have some peace on earth.

Many people use religion as a source of faith and hope, and without that hope, they may never feel inspired. Without something to focus their lives around, many more people would worry and stress out more.

Ultimately, some place their dreams and hopes into the hands of God or their religious leader because our society has created so much pressure and stress. No, the world would not be better without religion. Fighting nations would just find other reasons to fight, like who claimed what land first.

I know with religion there comes many views as to how they are interpreted. so if there wasn't any religion how would that void be filled. Stalin banned religions, Ho Chi Min and Dung Shou Ping as well.(pardon the spelling). A world without out religion only exsists in a song. It would end up 1000 yrs from now with an invented one, look at Kwanza, made up by a professor. Granted it gives some people a cause and pulls them together. but all there would be would be a hole for someone to dump there beliefs in and call it law.

Seeing as most of the conflict in the world is based on religion, considering the fact that religious beliefs of others are imposed on us all, and taking into account the levels of intolerance and hatred on this site directed towards gays from religious types, I'm almost tempted to say yes.
But I think everyone needs something to believe so I'll say no.
I think the world would be a better place with acceptance of different religions......

I am really torn on this question. I would say I am leaning more towards no because religion helps keep our world and our beliefs diverse. Also, I think that religion and faith can give someone hope who never necessarily had it before. I am fully aware of the complications and conflicts between different religious groups in the history of our world, however, I think that religion is here to stay whether we think it would better our world if it was gone or not. And even if you aren't religious or faithful...It will always be implanted in our world.

This is a very thoughtful questions, it really made me think.

I think the world would be worse without religion.

I do believe that religion or "belief" in something more is almost a necessity. I also like to add that your belief doesn't have to agree with mine. I think that a responsibility to a "higher power" is what makes some want to do better and be a better person and be a better person to humanity.

I have to ask myself, if the bible did not say love one another, would I even care. Or about being married, to me when I made that commitment to God it meant more to me than anything piece of paper.

Sure there are some radicals that cause a lot of harm, but there are also purely wonderful people - I am not Catholic but when I think of Mother Theresa I am in awe.

Thanks for making me think - OUCH - ha ha

No. Religion provides a hope and structure needed by some people. Only the truly independent, strong, and mature can live without the boundaries created by religion.
If all religions could teach without fear and hate, and teach people to tolerate all other people regardless of beliefs, the world would be better. No person is better or worse than any other human and I wish more religions taught this.

No. With the wars and bad things that happen all over the world, we as a human race need something to look to for hope to know that there is indeed some good in the world. Faith is daring the soul to go beyond what the eyes can see. Religion offers a chance to see beyond the differences that are all around us.

I'm not into religion. Christianity and religions like that annoy me sooo bad. I think that if we didn't have religion we would just have faith for other things. I think that we can't live without knowing the answers to something... so yeah. But we'll never know how the world started, why we're here, etc. so who really cares how it got started? Just enjoy life...
