I read a book where they sprayed grapes in the vinyard with water to protect them from frost. Would that work on squash and green beens too?

My husband and I farm 20 acres of veggies and absolutly, watering your planst will stave off frost. You have to do it just before the temp gets to 0 or my husband turns on the irrigation just before the sun comes up....thats when it gets the coldest! Good luck. We usually save our peppers and cukes from the first frost and then we dont see another frost for a couple of weeks.....its definatly worth it!

Oh me.... Water works for some things not others. It will work in the spring when you are fighting the first frost on blooms but not much after that. Squash and g beans probably not. You might prolong the season if you threw some old sheets or blankets on them but it's the ground temp that will get them eventually.

I actual have been advised to circulate to the zoo and ask for tiger 'droppings' (they're going to easily provide them to you) to unfold around your sources. It does not take lots in any respect. The cats needless to say smell the presence of predator and stay away. I actual have not carried out this individually yet comprehend some people that have and that they stated it rather works amazingly properly!

the water will work only if it is a frost and if you wash the plants off before the sun hits them
if it's a freeze, then when you run water over them they will ice up

i would think youd be better off just mulching around the base and covering them with a burlap or some suitable substitute..

you risk killing them if the temp gets too low, where you are..

when the grapes get sprayed with water it is winter, and they have no foliage to freeze..
